Non-Invasive Vascular Testing

Our vascular department has been accredited by The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. Vascular studies are non-invasive and painless performed using Doppler ultrasound. Doppler uses high frequency sound waves to create images. We offer the following studies in our office:

Carotid Doppler: Evaluates blockages to the major blood vessels that supply the brain, which may lead to strokes.

Arterial Doppler: Evaluates exercise-induced pain in extremities or to follow-up on postoperative grafts.

Venous Doppler: Evaluates swelling or pain of an extremity, which may be caused from blockages in the views.

Abdominal/Renal Doppler: Determines the presence of an abdominal aortic aneurysm or blockage of the arteries to the kidneys.

The above studies are performed by a Registered Vascular Technologist and take approximately 45-60 minutes.

Patients undergoing abdominal imaging should have nothing to eat or drink from midnight the night before the test. Gas-X is required to be taken the night before the test and again prior to the test (available over the counter).

Patients undergoing renal imaging are required to take Gas-X at night and again prior to the test. Patient should have nothing to eat from midnight on but need to drink 8 oz. of water prior to the test.
